Today signs are made of vinyl, aluminium, acrylic and stainless steel. Billboards are colour printed in epic proportions and backlit.

It wasn’t always the case. Not long ago signs were hand painted onto brick. There are still remnants of this world, although they are fast disappearing as the elements take their toll and streets are demolished to make way for new developments.

You can view some examples of ghostsigns at a new online gallery, blog and Flickr group.

I wonder if today’s web designs will one day look as dated as these signs do to us?
